compassion/confrontation

so, i've been thinking about compassion and confrontation and learning that it is of course not an either/or. true compassion includes confronting misdirection and yes, i'll even use the word evil. i believe that usually our inner darkness is a result of the shadow of ignorance. i don't use the word evil easily, but when a person or group continues to actively hurt another person or group the act of true compassion is to stand up and confront the ignorance that is the root of the evil. what do you think?

Ramblings

Ramblings: "---i've been thinking that i would like to create a space where we could share our stories about our lives. and where when we feel stuck we could open our eyes to more options. i call it a 'third way.' so often we think we have to choose between 'this' and 'that' and we don't even realize that 'the other thing' is also right there just waiting to be discovered. perhaps we each have ways that we open our eyes to what we haven't been able to see. i'd like to start a conversation, or many conversations, in a group or one by one, in person or online, to explore the possibilities. if you'd like to join me, drop me a line.

---here's one thoughtful response i got: 'i don't know what you have in store with this 3rd way deal, but i have a favor to ask. if you can help me figure out how to not go crazy obsessing about which of the first 2 ways to choose while i wait for the 3rd way to rear its spring chicken head, i would greatly appreciate it.'

--some ideas: 1) find a person in your life who is good at thinking outside the box, bouncing ideas around, shaking you out of the stuck place. 2) remember what the one most important thing is: your mission or priority or the one thing you don't want to live without. 3) chant, meditate, go for a walk: do the thing that helps open your mind/heart to the wisdom of the universe, to clear seeing. 4) take a little step in a direction, knowing that direction may change. few steps are irrevocable and a little motion can help break things loose.
